Spine Foundation Fellowship

Spine Foundation has been involved in training young orthopaedic surgeons since 1998. There is three year Spine Foundation Fellowship program for training Orthopaedic surgeons post- MS / DNB. At any given moment, there are three qualified Spine Fellows in the unit, who help in smooth execution of various clinical and academic functions of the foundation.

The fellowship is carried out in various tertiary care institutes in Mumbai including Lilavati Hospital, New Age Wockhardt Hospital (Mumbai Central) and Breach Candy Hospital. Part of fellowship also includes exposure to peripheral centers like V N Desai Municipal hospital. Fellows are expected to gain expertise in all major areas of current orthopaedic spine practice including degenerative, trauma, infection, deformity correction and neoplasms. Emphasis is placed not only upon technical and academic proficiency, but excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially towards patients and families coping with it.

The Fellowship also allows active involvement in clinics, ward management and surgeries along with Dr. Bhojraj and DrAbhay Nene. During this three year program, progressively increasing clinical responsibility is offered. Fellows are also involved in maintaining and updating the surgical and outdoor patient records. Fellow is expected to participate in the ongoing research projects conducted by the unit. Utmost care is taken to evolve young orthopedic surgeons into skilled spine surgeons. Fellowship Completion Certificate is awarded at the end of the program.

Spine Foundation pays remuneration to the fellows in the form of a stipend.
